After 12th science (PCM)
Engineering course:-
Question:-Would you like to be an Engineer?
Answer:-If yes then you could go for the engineering study. There are ample opportunities in the engineering field:
Question:-Is engineering a good career after 12th science math/PCM?
Answer:-Yes, all your queries exist positive, you can pursue engineering with PCM subjects but not with the PCB group. If you are still interested in an engineering career, you will have to do the 10+2 again with Mathematics. For engineering courses one can appear in JEE Main, JEE Advanced 2019 and many others. For architecture courses once can appear for NATA 2019.
The term “Engineering” has originated from the Latin word Ingenium means ‘Cleverness and Ingeniare means ‘to create’.
“Engineering is an application that involves in scientific and practical knowledge in order to invent, maintain, improve, build, design, system, devices, material, machine and process.”
The Engineering study is one of the best and most soughed disciplines of academic education. It is growing with the development of nation, education, technology and research.
Courses & Eligibility:-
What are the courses available in Engineering Field?
Engineering courses are available at diploma level, undergraduate level, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
Diploma Course leading to Diploma in Engineering:-
It is a 3-year course which students can pursue after the completion of 10 years of school education. Diploma holders are eligible for lateral entry to the third semester Engineering Courses. Diploma in Engineering is offered in various disciplines.
Undergraduate Course leading to B.Tech Degree:-
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is the 4-year full-time undergraduate course in engineering. This course can be done with one of the engineering discipline. Prerequisites for pursuing B.Tech is 10+2 passed with PCM group from the recognized educational board.
Postgraduate Course leading to M.Tech Degree:-
Postgraduate course in engineering resulting in the award of a Master of Engineering (M.E.) or Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree . It is a 2-years course that one can pursue after completing a 4-year undergraduate program in engineering (B.Tech).
Doctoral Course in Engineering:-
Doctoral of Philosophy in Engineering (Ph.D) is the advanced research course in engineering that has the duration of 3 years. Course duration varies from college to college. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program should have a master degree in respective discipline.
If you want to take admission in M.Tech programme, then you have to appear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE 2019. Some state level entrance test are also conducted for M.Tech admission like AP PGECET 2019, TS PGECET 2019, TANCET 2019, CUCET 2019, etc.
Career Scope
Engineers are highly demanded in India as well as in Foreign countries. Career options in this field are huge.
Career Options After B.Tech:-
After B.Tech, you can go for a job. Some colleges provide campus placement to their students. If you will not get campus placement, then you can apply for the companies by our own. If you have a dream to run your own company then you can also become an entrepreneur.
Career scope in private as well as in government fields is also available. Students can apply for Indian Engineering Services (IES) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
PCM (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics) :-
- Engineering courses (B.E. and B.Tech.)
- Architecture (B.Arch.)
- Bachelor in Computer Applications (B.C.A.)
Biotechnology Engineering:-
Biotechnology engineering is the study, research and development of bio-organism, micro-organism and cell functions in living beings. The course combines engineering with other subjects like chemistry, genetics, bio-chemistry and microbiology. Biotechnology covers different fields of work like agriculture, disease research, eco-conservation, fertilizers, vaccines, energy production and animal husbandry. The program focuses on areas like Enzymology, GM products and drug designing among others. The integrated undergraduate and postgraduate program in biotechnology engineering is offered in many technical institutes across the world.
Agricultural Engineering:-
Agricultural Engineering relates to the science and technology of producing food grains. It applies principles of engineering science and technology to production and processing in the field of agriculture. Here the knowledge of agriculture principles gets combined with the disciplines of animal biology, plant biology and also principles of Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Chemical Engineering. BE/B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering is a 4-year program. In this program, the students basically study design of agricultural machinery and equipment; agricultural structures, agricultural resource management, surveying and land profiling. Subjects like climatology and atmospheric science; soil management and conservation including erosion and erosion control, seeding, tillage etc., are part of Agricultural Engineering. Harvesting and processing of crops, livestock production, and waste management are some of the areas of study in this program. You can pursue M.Tech in Agricultural Engineering after successful completion of BE/B.Tech.
If you are attracted towards the architectural marvels around the world, this is the path for you. Architecture program includes learning planning and designing building structures. It is a science and an art of drawing, planning, implementing and construction of the housing structures. The duration of the course is 5 years.
With rapid urbanization, there are a lot of opportunities for architects. They can find employment in government as well as private sector. The work of an Architect includes designing and restoration of buildings such as residential buildings, malls, restaurants, complexes, etc. You can appear in the national level examination NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, for getting admission in this course. The average starting salary of an architect is 5-6 lakhs per annum.
Commercial Pilot Course:-
If you have been that science student, who always wished for an adventurous life and possess speedy, calculative and high analytical mind, then becoming a Commercial Pilot can be the best option for you. You can try to get admission into Government College like IGRUA (Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academy) where fees are reasonable. There are many private colleges where you can learn to fly, but fees charged are often very high. The average starting salary of the commercial pilot is 1 – 1.50 lakh per month.
Merchant navy is not a job rather a passion to pursue. If you are passionate about the sea life, then this is the best course to opt for. You will get the opportunity to see the world, enjoy a variety of food, know different cultures, and earn a high salary as well. The average starting salary in Merchant navy is ₹ 70 – 80,000 per month. You can become captain, navigation in –charge and Assistant captain.
Bachelor in Computer Application (B.C.A.):-
A course in computer application has a huge scope. Although, computer science is one of the branches of engineering but for those who are not interested in pursuing engineering can go for a bachelor’s degree in computer application. Computer graduates often get job opportunities in MNCs and draw heavy salaries. They also have good opportunity abroad. With a strong command over programming languages, you can work as a Software Developer, Database Administrator, Network Administrator, System Analyst, Web Designer, App Developer, etc. The average starting salary of a computer engineer is 6 lakhs per annum.
Physics can offer many opportunities for those who excel in the subject. A career in Physics demands strong logical thinking, problem-solving skills and passion for Physics. You can make a career in areas such as Econophysics, Aerospace, Computational Physics, Medical Physics, Nuclear Physics, Data Science and more. You can also go for research or teaching fields. Some top colleges for the best Physics study are IISc Bangalore, IISER, Hansraj College, NISER, Odisha, Presidency University, Kolkata, Banaras Hindu University, and St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
